Can sensitive skin break out because of certain chemicals?

I recently switched from a cleanser which only contained .5% sacilyc acid to another cleanser which contained 2%. I also started to use an exfoliating scrub every morning. I don’t have acne-prone skin, I only get the usual pimples now an then, but now I’m breaking out very badly. Is it because my skin is too sensitive and reacted to the harsh chemicals? If so, if I switch back to my old cleanser, how long until my skin recovers?

Yes, sensitive skin will break out and rash from just about everything and anything you could ever think of.

I also have sensitive skin and I don’t think its so much the amount of chemicals it just that your skin gets used to a certain kind of facial cleanser and when it gets switched your skin just reacts. If you continue to use the new cleanser, it may take a couple weeks but your skin will get used to it and the breakouts should clear up, but if not discontinue use of it. I use St. Ive’s Apricot Scrub and i used the blackhead control cleanser and switched to the renew and re firm of the same brand, St. Ive’s and my skin broke out with a couple pimples for about 2 weeks, but now im all good to go. If you do choose to switch back you should be okay within a week or two!
    hope it helps :)
