What is your favorite hand cream?

Posted in hand and foot care  by admin

I have fairly okay hands. But when the cold weather comes, it starts to dry out. I have been looking for a good hand cream and wonder what you guys are using. I am open to any brand. Thanks.

i like suave aloe vera lotion. It’s great because it doesn’t have much alcohol in it or perfumes and it really moisturizes and heals my skin because of the aloe vera.

My hands are extremely dry after scrubbing my carpet. if i don’t put cream on them they crack and bleed. it looks like i burned both my hands. any suggestions?

Hello, Yes, I know what you mean. I use Bali Body Butter. It has so many uses but for dry or cracked skin its the best I have ever used. I order mine online at www.cityofsvelte.com You can read more about the South Seas products. I swear by them!

I have no problems for now but would like to care for them before I do develope any.

lubriderm lotion, but use the lotion not cream you dont have to rub it in as hard diabetics are very prone to foot pressure ulcers simply rubbing an area too hard can cause them. Also be sure to keep feet dry and try to keep the elevated off of bed to prevent rubbing witch also causes the beggining
of ulcers good luck!

Or, less specifically, is there any real difference between creams marketed as "hand creams" and "body creams", regardless of brand?

The location of where the cream goes on probably has something to do with the nomenclature. Hand cream usually has a softener for rough hand skin, and body has smoother applications. The term ‘bath’ means the cream is soluble in water and can be used during bath or shower.

It’s an antifungal cream my doctor prescribed for me to treat ring worm. Can it treat athletes foot?

You should never use a prescription for any reason other than the prescribed purpose.
Consult a physician.
GOOD LUCK.

I have some swelling and muscle pain in a certain area on the bottom of my right foot. I have tried applying Icy Hot to it, but unlike everywhere else on my body( excluding my hand print areas) the cream does not seem to do anything. It doesn’t seem to sink in and sooth the muscles there. I understand the sole of your feet is where your skin is the thickest; this may be the cause of the unsuccessful soothing. Is there a muscle cream that will sink into the sole of your feet?

you dont necessarily have to apply anti inflammatory creams to a specific area to get relief, in fact you will get a better effect if you take a week long course of ibuprofen 3 times a day for 2 weeks
most muscle creams are what is known as a rubefacient – which means they heat up an area, so any heat would have the same effect – a heat pad, foot bath etc

Usually I just use my regular body cream on my hands, but lately I’ve been hearing that I should get one specifically formulated for my hands. Do you think this is just a marketing ploy? Or are these creams actually different in that they’re specifically designed for the hands?

Mostly marketing. If you look at the "active" ingredients on the package, most lotions and creams share the same ingredients. If your hands are drier than the rest of your body (it’s common) others could be suggesting something stronger to help with that. You can use something like ammonium lactate cream, which is prescribed often but does not require a prescription.

For the Lamisil athletes foot advert, does it star Celtic striker Scott McDonald because it really looks like him

The cause for pimples are many and not only adolescence as
popularly believed. Chronic constipation is one major cause,
the food we eat plays a very important role. You will have
to cut down the fried food, chocolates, cheese and aerated
drinks. Eat a lot of fresh fruits and green vegetables with
a lot of water. Instead of washing the face with soap, use
orange peel powder. Dry Orange peels in the shade for 4-5
days. Powder finely and store. Wash your face with this 2-3
times a day. It clears the face and feels very refreshing.

I’m a nurse and get stupidly dry and cracked skin on my hands from constantly washing and using alcohol gel. I have tried some pretty expensive hand creams but nothing seems to do the job adequately enough. Am willing to spend a bit of money to find one that really works but was wondering if anyone has a brand they would particularly recommend.
Many thanks.

Olive oil or any other vegetable oil.

My iguana has fungus and I want to know if it’s safe to treat it at home with Athlete’s foot cream???
I went to the pet store and you can’t buy fungus cream in stores only over the internet and I don’t have a credit card…

ask your vet… When we first got our iguana he had a fungus on his underside and we had to get a special cream for him from the vet.
even if you don’t have a vet call around to exotic vets and ask them what they suggest. don’t go putting stuff on him because you thiink something is wrong

The reason I ask is because I don’t use nail cream, and my nails break easily. I was going to buy some nail cream, but can’t I just use regular lotion? And while I’m on the subject what is the difference between hand cream and nail cream; and lotion and hand cream?

Hand cream is really think and moisturizes a lot better.
Lotion is thinner then hand cream and does not moisturizes.
Nail cream is cream usually the consitency of lip balm and you put it on your cuticles at night time to get rid hang nails and dry cuticles.
Hope I helped.

A good suggestion i’ve given my clients with rough heels and toes was; use almond oil on your feet at night before bed. leave on wet for about 5 to 10 minutes, then pat dry. Also try leaving the oil on 3 days a week. while oil is still excess on your feet, put your socks on, and then your shoes. it will feel a little wierd at first, but it really works. My clients have seen results in as little as 2 weeks.

I have a hand cream but its a bit watery and ineffective. I like experimenting with cosmetics and was wondering, is it possible to make it a thicker formula by adding something like Vaseline and then melting it together? Any ideas or tips?
Interesting comments about flour. As a kid I used to put baby powder in watery creams. Added too much and it was a paste! Might try again.

I’ve found that once hand cream is open a week or two they often get little crystals in it. It doesn’t seem to affect it’s benefits but they do stick to me a bit once cream has rubbed in. Does any1 know how to avoid this?
They’re not meant to be there- it’s not an exfoliating cream or anything, it should be smooth. It’s like the cream has gone off or something but it’s only been open a week

sometimes these crystels are used to lift dirt or impureities that are found in your skin
