As we age, our skin produces less of the natural oil that helps it retain its moisture. It’s easy to treat dry skin cheaply, simply, naturally, yet effective, at home. Skin is not dry because it lacks oil, but because it lacks water.

Use a humidifier if the air is dry. Cosmetics should be used carefully because they may cause allergic reactions like contact dermatitis. Drink plenty of water every day.

Use flaxseed oil or walnut oil in your salad. Eat foods that contain essential fatty acids. Concentrating on a diet of LOTS of fruits and vegetables (preferably uncooked) and no junk food, should give you an observable improvement within 30 days.

Drink plenty of water, a minimum of a quart a day. For an easy fiber boost, mix in 2 tablespoons of ground up flaxseeds in raw applesauce, from 2-3 apples, made in your food processor.

A pimple that lasts for a few days is much more appealing than a scar that lasts a lifetime. When following a skin care regimen, read all labels before purchasing the products. For acne prevention, you want a cleanser with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Both products help prevent pore blockage, skin inflammation and pimple formation. Select an effective night cream to rub into pimples that flare up. Keep any heavy or oily materials away from you face. Also try and wash oils off of your hands before touching your face. What is a good facial moisturizer for very sensitive skin?

I have been using Neutrogena Oil Free for sensitive skin moisturizer for years but lately every time I wash my face (Neutrogena sensitive skin cleanser) it feels like I have poured gasoline on my face and struck a match. How to control oily skin for the entire day?

I have products that control oil temporarily. I was wondering (and hoping) if there are any products that control oil on the skin for the entire day, if not at least part of the day. I have dermadoctor tease zone oil control gel and it works wonderfully for a couple hours, but then my skin feels oily again. Is there anything (gels, creams, masks, makeup) that controls oil for more than a couple hours??

Powder bases are definately the way to go for keeping oil at bay for more than just a couple of hours. I’ve also tried the Dermadoctor Tease Zone and it did the same thing – felt great for a little while, then my face was an oil-slick again! Since I have exceptionally oily skin and have gotten tired of using those silly oil-blotting papers all day long, here is the regimine I now use. This keeps me oil free for a wonderful 4-6 hours. And then, even when oil does start to break through, it’s not very much.
First, wash your face with a good scrub containing Salicylic Acid. I like Acne Free 24/7 Foaming Wash, found in drug stores for about 7 bucks. If you need to exfoliate, use an exfoliating body glove – also found at drugstores for about 3 bucks. Dry your face and allow it to air dry for a minute or so before applying an oil absorbing powder. I use an excellent one with a Kaolin Clay base called "Mattify!" This works as a primer to use before foundation and a makeup setting powder to use after foundation. Alternately, it can be used by itself to absorb oil if you don’t wear foundaiton. I got this one on Ebay for about 8 bucks – just type "Mattify" into the search. I’ve never found any product that even comes close to keeping my skin matte as long as this one does. For even more oil absorbing power – after you’ve finished applying all of your makeup, use a makeup setting spray such as Model In A Bottle. This helps cosmetics like eyeliner, foundation & blush stay put on oily skin all day long. Two things I would definately avoid are silicone based primers, such as Smashbox and Mineral Makeup such as Bare Escentuals. Often these are suggested for oily skin, but they do nothing except cause more oil and breakouts. Hope these tips help you out!

How can i get rid of dry skin around my lips?

I had this problem with my lips a for two months. It started where my lips were really dry and they were scaly and i constantly had to wear chapstick. Well it’s still like this just It’s spreading through my fact and now I have this nasty dry flaking skin around my lips and going up my cheek.
I went to the doctor and he said it was an allergic reaction to something and gave me zertec. Well it didnt help and it’s still here. Does any one know what it is? Or how to get rid of it. And if not that.. What’s the best way to get rid of dead skin off your face?

Is that Dr mad. Giving you zertec would lead to abnormal sleep patterns. Consentration would collapse. Drowsyness would dominate. What Dr are you seeing. Get something called Bio oil. Otherwise eat a lot of cucumbers, tomatoes and ofcourse any coulerfull fruit or veggie. Belive it or not but use a cheap eye cream on the lips. Especially those ones that give you a numbing sensation in the lips. Direct your lips to succulant fruit and especially Avocado and we will talk again.
Avoid the 3 S’s, SUN, SALIVA, and COFFEE WITH SUGAR

I’m a nurse and get stupidly dry and cracked skin on my hands from constantly washing and using alcohol gel. I have tried some pretty expensive hand creams but nothing seems to do the job adequately enough. Am willing to spend a bit of money to find one that really works but was wondering if anyone has a brand they would particularly recommend.
