How do I get rid of oily skin?

Posted in skin types  by admin
July 14th, 2010

I have super oily skin. I wash my face like 2-3 times a day and I use an oil free moisturizer. After I apply make up, with in an hour or less my face is shiny as can be. I can’t stand it. Most of it is because I am mexican/italian so I have naturally oily skin. Is there something I can do with out drying my face out completely? HELP please.

Apply gram powder (powder of gram grains) mixed with a little milk and turmeric of the skin before or instead of soap at the time of bath. This will take away the oil from skin and it will be soft and silky. Try it and see the results in a couple of days.

    1. Don’t wear makeup.
    2. Put your hair up and out of your face. That’s where most oil comes from is your hair.
    3. Try cleansing pads. They’re easy to use and you can use them anywhere you need them.

you MUST get Avon Clearskin Scrub. You will notice a difference the first time you use it. Also, get some Oil of Olay for Sensitive skin. It’s a moisturizer that is so light, that it goes on like water, and doesn’t leave your skin with that "greazy" feel. (and lay off the fried foods !)

Well first of all what kind of make-up do you wear? Secondly try buying an Oil-control facewash/moisturizer/toner etc. Always wash your face in the morning/night. Never go to bed with make-up on as well. And throughout the day try not to re-apply too much cover-up. Perhaps you might want to try using blotting pads for your face throughout the day. You can find them at Longs/Target/Wal-Mart etc.

    Hello! I can help!
You will have to use a cleanser and moisturizer made for oily skin. Our cleanser clears away impurities and leaves the skin feeling refreshed while helping control excess oil, and our moisturizer has "sponges" that soak up oils throughout the day.

when i was a teenager i had the same dilemma and someone recommended that i eat leafy green veggies. try some spinach, collard greens, or beet greens with your meals for a few weeks, and get plenty of sleep and excercise. And make sure you wash and rinse your hair with your back to the shower head to prevent the oils from your head from getting in your face. Also, don’t put your hands on your face if you can remember. and wash your face with Phisoderm soap which will reduce the oil but not dry out the skin. then there’s always prescription meds from a dermatologist as a way to cure it.

Do not wash you face more than 2 times a day this will actually make your skin produce more oil. Only wash in the morning and before you go to bed and when you do use professional grade cleansing and toning products for your skin instead of using soap or a cheap products from the drugstore because most of these contain alcohol which can dry the surface of the skin only but not control the oil problem beneath the surface .

You can’t really get rid of oily skin but you can control it. Don’t wear too much heavy make-up, try a oil mattifying lotion or use some kind of oil absorbing sheets and wash your face no more then twice a day with a oil free foaming cleanser. Oh and drink lots of water.

Apply only oil-free foundations, powder blushers and powder eye shadows. Foundation should be used after bathing on the eyelids and lips. This ensures your cosmetics remain on your face for longer time.

Cleaning your face with mild soap and water twice or thrice daily will minimize the secretion of oil. If you are outside, use baby wipes if your skin is sensitive to clean your face. Then re-apply your makeup. Apply dry facial masque once per week.
